Question: What are your thoughts on comment registration, TypeKey, etc.?
My Answer: I’ll probably enable it on my blog… Not that many people post comments on my blog, and I get quite a bit of comment spam so it would be worth it to have people register just to stop the spam I get. Which is almost more than the real comments I get.
Posted by derek at March 22, 2004 09:42 AM | TrackBackI hate having to register to leave a comment on a site because it kills any desire I’d have had to participate. It really sucks that things have had to come to this (damn you, MT Spammers), but do whatever you must to save your sanity. It’s your prerogative.
Posted by: McNinja at March 23, 2004 05:24 PMI’ve never seen any comment spam. On any blogs I’ve been to … is it a big thing now or something?
Posted by: thomas at March 24, 2004 03:37 PMYes, very big. There is software out there to spam blogs. very frustrating.
Posted by: Derek Rose at March 24, 2004 03:43 PMYeah. Some jerks created a spamming app a few months back that hit the MovableType community hard. A lot of bloggers have been forced to turn off commenting on all but their most recent entries. It’s ridiculous.
