New (real) Sony PSP Pictures
Update: Here’s a good link to the some hi-res photos of the official Sony PSP. (updated on 5/11/04)
Sony has posted some real concept pictures of the Sony PSP online. I had earlier posted some pictures of the PSP which turned out to be fakes, but these are real concept renderings of the new PSP. Granted they are concept renderings, so it may look totally different by the time it is actually done, but it’s looking pretty cool so far! However it mentioned analog sticks in the original specs, which I still don’t see here, unless they just don’t look like normal analog sticks. Posted by: dj bobo at November 6, 2003 02:57 AMthis dont look uncomfortable at all. if youve used a n-gage at all ull know that its sur[prisingly easy to use. the PSP looks amazin, its realy compact, colour is typical Playstation 2 colour, and the buttons look touch sensitive of feather touch. the analoge sticks aint on it, so im kinda disapointed about that, but u never know, some that wud nicely pop up outa the amazin lookin slimline front would be nice. at least the screen is the right way round (eat that nokia!), and its widescreen too. it looks like an overgrown keyring with amazing power, i just cant wate to get my hands on one. and belive me, the design of that will not be uncomfortable, it will fit nicely, it will be like using a nicely rounded snes pad lol. i just love it, I WANT ONE!! lol, and if u search the net for specs, its gonna wipe the floor wiv nokia and nintendo. i wudnt like to be boss of gameboy right now…..
Posted by: adman1020 at November 17, 2003 07:13 PMAbout comfort, just remember japanese have v small hands, they needed a whole new controller for the x-box because they couldnt get to grips with it, its not designed for western folk, so yeah it might be uncomfortable.

see, this is how it’s going to happen i’v got $1,000 saved up for this and when it comes out i will be the first to get it. im sure it will cream the nokia&Nintendo off the market, after playing a psx for 5 years then getting a ps2 im sure this machine will be good to brag to your poorer friends about
ever thought that it could have a popup analog stick? any idea of the screen dimensions? Have you guys checked out the gametrac? (gametrac.com) any ideas on that? Im with mikeice, gonna buy one fast when available..I signed up with lik sang for more info when available.

Which was uncomfortable, and this looks extremly uncomfortable compared to the GBA SP. Also, the screen will get scratched really bad, thats why Nintendo made the clamshell finally. Nokia will probobly won’t even be around by the time this comes out. I believe Nintendo will eat Nokia alive. I really don’t think that the PSP is going to get rid of Nintendo, It may be more powerful but it’s games that count. And Nintendo is the master of games. So I think it will not be much compitition for Nintendo.
Posted by: ruon at November 30, 2003 06:12 PMactually ruon, sony has, historically, dominated the game variety aspect of the console industry. the playstation had a library 3 times larger than that of the N64 and the PS2 has roughly 4 times as many titles as the gamecube. also, sony’s marketing goal is probably not to destroy nintendo, but offer an alternative gaming experience. I personally think that the psp will dominate the handheld industry when it comes out.

The design of the PSP is awesome and the curved edges will make it easier for the user(the neck strap is a nice touch)and I cant wait to see what sony has up their sleeve for this little goodie, as I will be getting one as soon as they hit the shelf…keep up the great work and brilliant ideas guys! man I’d love to get one of these things when they come out… though i’ll have to wait to see how it does just incase it does a price drop like the GBA and to see if it has good games! I really like the fact that it can play mpeg-4 ad music formats! (look at sony page 4 info)but where is the analog stick? maybe sony will change this idea. As for the fact of killing nintendo that won’t happen for a long time yet. Now that nintendo have competition in both markets of home gaming devices and portable gaming devices this should give them the kick up the arse they need to make a newer game boy which will actually play 3D games ( i was quite annoyed about them not doing it last time :@ ) anyway hope everthing turns out fine.

psp mini-disc is cool, but only adds unnecessary bulk to game machine and lowers battery life. disk format is not really needed with upcoming always on wireless networks (GPRS, bluetooth, G3).

Posted by: zp@fl at January 26, 2004 05:37 PMThis is going to be great. ive read somewhere that there will be all different types of the PSP. for example one with a radio, one with a mobile phone, etc. who said the PSP’s cool screen wud get scratched? It has clip-on covers! Its meant to be really affordable aswell, and should be out around Xmas 2004. Finally, i read that where the directional pad is, is possible going to be analogue sensitivity.
Posted by: UNKNOWN at March 27, 2004 06:43 AMnow 1 think i like the idea of the big screen because i used to own a GBA and that screen was unbelieveably small and had to see the screen and nintendo had to make a second atempt to get that right by brightinin it up and to me the GBA and GB SP still look rubbish . n e way bac to the PSP looks out standing the layout of it all is amazin and i hear good things about it and the buttons look touch secitive which rocks and look rather comfortable and analogue sensitivit is the touch of class i will be gettin one of them because its amazin and was made by a true gamin company thanx sony!!!!!

It is so cheap because when you turn it on there is an advert that will come up. sony PSP is going down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
